Privacy policy

PaperWeek is a weekly homeschool planner. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, what we do with that information, and how you can get it removed. We keep it short because we collect very little.

What we collect

  • Account details. Your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored as salted hashes; we never see or store the plain-text password.
  • Planning data you enter. Student names, curricula, book titles and ISBNs, curriculum PDFs you upload, page ranges, weekly sheets, and which items were marked complete. Student names are entered by you, the parent or guardian, and are used only to label sheets and plans.
  • Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit so we can let you know when PaperWeek opens up.
  • Basic server logs. Our hosting provider records request metadata (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security and abuse prevention, and we use it for rate limiting on sign-in.

What we don't collect

  • Sheet photos stay on your device. When you scan a completed sheet, the photo is analysed in your browser. Only the resulting checkbox states are sent to our servers; the image itself is never uploaded.
  • We do not run analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers.
  • We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. PaperWeek accounts are created and used by parents and guardians.

Cookies

We use one session cookie to keep you signed in. It contains no tracking identifiers and is not shared with third parties.

Third-party services

  • Cloudflare hosts the application and its database. Your data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
  • Open Library is queried when you look up a book by ISBN or title. Only the search term is sent; no account information accompanies it.
  • Google Gemini processes curriculum PDFs you choose to upload. We send the PDF and extraction instructions to Google's Gemini Developer API so it can return a structured schedule for you to review. We do not send your PaperWeek account details or student names with the PDF unless that information is already contained in the document. Google may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period for service operation, safety, abuse prevention, and legal compliance under its Gemini API terms and project settings. Avoid uploading documents containing personal or sensitive information that is not needed to build the schedule.

How long we keep it

Your account and saved planning data are kept until you delete them or ask us to. PaperWeek processes an uploaded curriculum PDF for the import request but does not save the original PDF to its database; only the schedule you review and choose to save becomes planning data. Google may retain the PDF request and generated response for a limited period under its Gemini API terms and project settings. Waitlist emails are deleted once the waitlist closes or on request.

Your choices

You can edit or delete students, curricula, and sheets from within the app at any time. To delete your account and everything attached to it, or to request a copy of your data, email hello@paperweek.app from the address on your account and we'll take care of it promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
